Our Activities

Human Resource Development is meant for attracting, developing and retaining talented individuals who share the values and mission of NDDB. It goes beyond just hiring; focusing on building a supportive and inclusive culture that encourages both personal and professional growth.

HRD has played a vital role in creating an ethical workplace. It supports the leadership in implementing systems, processes and policies that promote employee satisfaction and drive overall success for NDDB by implementing all plans and programmes in a smooth manner.

Activities

Carries out a wide range of activities aimed at helping employees reach their full potential while aligning with our mission to improve farmers' livelihoods. Here’s an overview of key activities:

  • Recruitment
    1. Looking for skilled and value-oriented professionals who fit well with organisational culture.
    2. Hiring process includes thorough interviews and assessments to ensure we select the best candidates.
  • Employee Onboarding
    1. Providing comprehensive orientation to new employees, ensuring they are welcomed and prepared for their roles.
    2. New hires learn about NDDB’s culture and values to help them integrate smoothly within the system.
  • Performance Management
    1. Performance of areas and individual employees is evaluated on the basis of targets set for the year. Additionally, at individual level, assessment on attributes is also done.
    2. This allows employees to understand their strengths and areas for improvement, enhancing engagement.
Employee Development
  • Training: Various need-based training programmes are organized at regular intervals to improve both personal and professional skills of employees.
  • Sectoral Exposure Programmes: Employees participate in knowledge exchange programmes to learn from best practices in other organizations, especially Milk Unions/Federations.
  • Future Leadership Development Programs: High-potential employees are identified and provided mentorship to nurture their leadership abilities.
  • Saksham: This long-term training initiative aims to create a culture of continuous learning among employees.
Employee Engagement
  • LEAD: An initiative that creates learning opportunities for women employees of NDDB.
  • Knowledge Huddles: This initiative encourages employees to share individual/functional knowledge, helping align individual/functional efforts with organizational goals.
  • Horizons: Monthly magazine that delves into important topics which promote employee well-being.
  • Tech Tonics: Employees are updated on emerging technologies and organising sessions on how to use new tools for both professional and personal growth
  • The Book Nook: A monthly booklet which recommends books for the employees. Each edition of it highlights influential books that cover various topics such as leadership, team dynamics, emotional intelligence, amongst others.
  • Book Review Presentations: Organising sessions where employees present and discuss books, fostering a culture of learning and engagement.
  • Unnati: An engagement forum for NDDB workers for fostering collaboration and general awareness among workers through talks/sessions/fun activities.
  • Happy Hours: An initiative that sets aside dedicated time each month for engaging sessions/talks/activities to add a joyful element to our employee’s work lives.
  • Anubhav: This programme connects us with ex-NDDB employees wherein they share their experiences and knowledge.
  • NDDB for Fitness: An initiative focused on overall health and well-being of employees and the NDDB community.
  • HRD Week Celebrations: Hosting engaging activities that promote continuous learning and collaboration among employees.
  • Pustakalaya Parikrama: An annual event that promotes reading through fun activities/games and discussions about books.
Human Resource Management

In addition to the core activities, essential day-to-day functions support NDDB's growth and ensure effective human resource practices:

  • HR Data Analysis: Analysing Human Resources data to facilitate informed strategic decisions.
  • Policy Review: Regularly assessing and updating HR policies to ensure they meet the needs of the organization and our employees.
  • Personnel Actions: Managing various HR functions that keep the organization running smoothly.
  • Medical Schemes: Organising regular health check-ups and facilitating treatment of employees/ex-employees through appropriate policy support and institutionalized mechanisms.
HRD Initiatives for Subsidiaries / Other Organisations

HR interventions are undertaken for various stakeholders focused on attitudinal change and development of ethical leadership & culture.

  • Orientation/training programme for employees of subsidiaries/managed units/producer institutions: Conducting tailored orientation/training programmes for employees of NDDB’s subsidiaries, managed units, producer institutions to impart them with specific knowledge skills and help them understand our activities and unique culture.
  • HR related support for dairy cooperatives/federations and NDDB subsidiaries: Providing assistance for recruitment and training in the dairy sector. HRD team also engages in manpower studies of Milk Unions/Federations.
  • Training for PSUs/PSBs: Offering specialised training programs for induction stage and mid career employees in public sector organisations focused on attitudinal change
  • Saksham: This long-term training initiative aims to create a culture of continuous learning among employees.
