A. Area Specific Mineral Mixture (ASMM) – to improve productive and reproductive efficiency

  • Animal rations often lack the essential minerals in required quantities needed to maintain productivity and reproductive efficiency.
  • NDDB, in collaboration with ICAR institutes, have conducted mineral mapping in several states. Based on mineral mapping, Area Specific Mineral Mixture (ASMM) formulations have been developed for different agro-climatic zones.
  • NDDB has standardized the process and plant design for producing ASMM and has assisted in setting up of mineral mixture plants that collectively produce about 50,000 MT ASMM annually.
  • Benefits of ASMM
  • Increases milk yield, fat, and SNF content
  • Enhances reproduction efficiency
  • Improves growth of young calves/heifers, leading to early puberty
  • Boosts overall health and immunity

B. Samvriddhi – to improve quality of milk

  • Low levels of fat and SNF in milk often lead to significant economic losses to milk producers.
  • To address this specific issue, NDDB has developed a feed supplement called ‘Samvriddhi.’
  • Feeding ‘Samvriddhi’ improves milk yield, fat and SNF content.
  • Dosage: 250g per day per animal.

C. Pashu Sheetvardhak – to combat heat stress

  • High ambient temperature and relative humidity lead to heat stress in dairy animals, causing reduced dry matter intake, leading to decreased productivity.
  • NDDB has developed a supplement called ‘Pashu Sheetvardhak’ to combat heat stress.
  • It helps in minimizing productivity losses, improves milk yield and fat content.
  • Dosage: 350g per day per animal.

D. Garbhamin – to improve reproductive efficiency

  • Infertility in animals, a serious concern for dairy farmers, is primarily due to the deficiency of various micronutrients in their ration.
  • ‘GarbhaMin’ bolus, a feed supplement to treat anoestrus, has been developed by the NDDB and it is being manufactured by Indian Immunologicals. It contains chelated trace minerals and coated vitamins, which help cure anoestrus.
  • Dosage: One bolus per day per animal for 28 days or until the desired effect is achieved.

E. Urea Molasses Mineral Block – to enhance crop residue utilization

  • To improve the utilization of crop residues-based rations, NDDB has developed the Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB) in the form of lick.
  • NDDB assisted dairy cooperatives in installation of UMMB plants.
  • UMMB provides the animal with a continuous source of fermentable nitrogen, energy and minerals.
  • It helps in increasing the fat content in milk.

F. Bypass Fat Supplement – to minimize negative energy balance

  • Rations of high-yielding animals are usually deficient in energy, resulting in considerable loss of body weight after calving. This affects the reproductive performance and lactation yield of the animals. Further, if unprotected fat is fed in higher amounts, the digestion of fibre in the rumen is affected, thus impacting milk yield and fat content.
  • NDDB has standardized the process for producing bypass fat using palm fatty acid distillate.
  • Benefits of Bypass Fat Supplement
    o Minimizes post-calving weight loss
o Increases milk yield and fat percentage
o Decreases metabolic disorders caused by negative energy balance
    o Improves reproductive efficiency
