(Component E- Productivity Enhancement through Nutritional Intervention)
The objective is to improve the productivity of dairy animals, thereby enhancing the income of milk producers in the project area.
Calf Rearing Programme (CRP)
- The Calf Rearing Programme (CRP) aims to reduce calf mortality and lower the Age at First Calving (AFC) by offering 50% subsidy on pregnancy feed, calf starter, calf growth meal and transition feed.
- Assistance for Pregnancy feed, calf starter, calf growth feed, transition feed @50% subsidy, deworming and vaccination for female calves, fertility improvement, and monitoring & supervision support for three years.
- Each module covers 50 villages, targeting 500 pregnant animals and 250 female calves.
- One Animal Nutrition Officer (same officer will be responsible for Animal Nutrition Advisory Services) and 5 CRP Supervisors.
- The Animal Nutrition Advisory Services train farmers on ration formulation using the 1962 Farmer App (Pashu Poshan).
- Farmers receive guidance from Field Supervisors and a 50% subsidy on mineral mixture, transition feed and early lactation feed.
- Capital item support such as tablets for AN Advisory Supervisors and manpower/supervision support are also provided for three years.
- Each module covers 100 villages and 4,000 milch animals (40 animals per village), supervised through two AN Advisory Supervisors.
- Support for distribution of quality fodder seeds to farmers
- Demonstration of Crop Residue Management technologies
- Demonstration and propagation of modern fodder production and conservation technologies such as silage making, chaff cutters and setting up of fodder storage godowns.
