NDDB CALF LTD (NCL), a state-of-the-art testing laboratory and a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), provides multi-disciplinary testing services for the dairy industry, including chemical, biological, and animal genetics analysis. It supports national food safety initiatives and tests feed, milk products, food, agriculture, fruits, vegetables, fats, oils, honey, and water for various parameters like microbiological content, pesticides, antibiotics, heavy metals, and more. NCL also supports NDDB’s breed improvement and bovine semen quality control programs through genetic testing and disease diagnosis.

Accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17043, NCL participates in national and international proficiency tests (PT), ensuring accurate results through rigorous quality controls. The laboratory has been accredited since 2013 and offers over 4,900 tests. It holds recognitions from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Export Inspection Council (EIC), and APEDA. NCL serves as a Referral and National Reference Laboratory for milk products under FSSAI. Notable achievements include India’s first accredited honey authenticity testing facility, pioneering methods for detecting milk fat adulteration, and being the first accredited lab for dioxins and furans in milk products.
